October is the month for ghosts and goblins that we can see.
How about the rest of the goblins that haunt our dreams and our thoughts that we can’t see and can’t run from? What do we do about them? How do we escape from their clutches?
Well the first thing we do is recognize them in our thought patterns then bring them to the surface.
Now we can see what we are dealing with in color.
Let me give you an example that might help you grasp the idea.
The other day a lady really pushed my button. You know what that is, it’s when what she said just went through me and I wanted to either slap her or run.
So recognizing the thought pattern of fight or flight, I knew it was time to look deeper. The easiest way I have found to do that is to ask this question, ‘When was the first time I ever felt this way?’
Once I received the answer to that question, I can move into the next step. For some of us listening to the answer doesn’t come easy so here are some ways to go about it.
Sit in a quiet place, write the question down on a piece of paper then just listen as if you are trying to hear the clouds talk to you.
Another way is close your eyes, take a few deep breaths, and allow yourself to see a beautiful meadow or beach. Then invite in someone that knows the answer to your question and ask them.
Once your have your answer, mine was she reminded me of my sister that constantly taunted me. Now I can forgive my sister for having to pick on me, forgive myself for requiring a sister with that behavior.
Another ghost out of the closet!
